Having a DIY wedding or special event?

Are bulk buckets right for you?

Here are some questions to consider:

Logistics

Are you looking for an eco-friendly flower option for your wedding or special event? Do you need to keep costs down but want something more unique than the flowers you see at the supermarket?

Buying bulk buckets of blooms from Misty Meadows Flower Farms is an eco-friendly and economical option for those who have time to use their talent before the big event or have friends and/or family members who can do so.

Do you have the tools and equipment needed to create your own floral designs?

Vases, floral snips or sharp scissors, floral tape, wire, corsage pins, and ribbons may be needed.

Do you have enough time and space to make everything?

Typically, for weddings, I recommend planning on having 3 to 4 people committed to designing for a solid half-day or more. I do not advise attempting to make everything on the day of the event. Make sure you have a cool place, out of direct sunlight, to design and store flowers until your special event. You will need water access and a way to dispose of or compost the excess leaves and stems after you have made the arrangements.

Do you have a way to transport the designs to your event’s venue or can you make them at the venue?

The last thing you want is to design gorgeous arrangements, only to have them tip over in the car on the way to the venue! Make sure to have boxes or containers for transport in an air-conditioned vehicle.

The Flowers

How many stems are in a bucket?

The buckets are filled with a mixture of focal flowers, secondary flowers, filler, and foliage. Stem count varies slightly depending on the season and what is available, but averages around 55 stems.

How many arrangements can be made with each bucket?

This depends on the shape and size of your vases, but one bucket typically makes four to six quart-sized mason jar arrangements, depending on how full you make them.

May I request specific flowers in my buckets?

The contents of your bucket will depend on what I have blooming that week! Planning ahead for a special event is important, so if you want to use local flowers - check out our seasonal availability list to get an idea of when certain flowers bloom and set your event accordingly. You can also view the flowers by the month on my new gallery page.

How long will the flowers last?

If properly cared for most varieties I grow last at least a week. Use clean vases, cut stems with sharp clean clippers, and change the water daily. Keep away from food, pets, and direct sunlight. Some flowers, like the larger dahlias, have a shorter vase life but they are so unique and perfect for event work!

The Options

 Can I order smaller quantities?

At Misty Meadows Flower Farm some flowers are available for purchase by the stem or bunch. Please note that availability for these flowers varies throughout the growing season.

If you want large quantities of premium flowers, such as tulips, peonies, sunflowers, dahlias, and lisianthus, please email me.

Keep in mind that seeds and bulbs are purchased a year in advance of your event and need to be planted months before an event.

When can I pick up my bulk flowers?

I will contact you via email with pick-up or delivery details. Most Saturday weddings and events prefer to pick up their flowers on Thursday. When transporting your flowers, be sure you have an air-conditioned vehicle. Once the flowers leave the farm, you are responsible for their care. Misty Meadows Flower Farm cannot be held accountable for the many factors that affect flower health once they have been picked up.

I can also deliver flowers for a small delivery fee.
