My Roots

“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul."

Welcome to

Misty Meadows Flower Farm.

My name is Jessica, and I LOVE flowers!! Well, all plants to be honest, but flowers are my passion.

What’s in a name?

I chose the name of my farm to carry on my parents’ farming legacy. They established a farm in Upstate NY in 1980 when they moved from urban NJ to rural Upstate NY. They decided to call their farm The Misty Meadows Farm and fully embraced homesteading. My sister and I grew up surrounded by large vegetable gardens, multiple flower gardens, fruit orchards, a pond, every animal you can think of, and we lived in a log cabin with only wood heat. We learned from a young age that farming is hard work, but if you put in the time, you reap the amazing benefits! My father even “gave” me a small piece of their land when I was little so I could decide what to grow in my very own garden. I guess I was hooked at that point!

I have studied organic farming, herbalism, native gardening, foraging, and more! I love to learn and blend my knowledge into a cohesive plan that respects the Earth and supports the slow flower movement. The Slow Flower movement encourages consumers to support their local economy and consciously purchase cut flowers grown locally, seasonally, and ethically in the United States, instead of purchasing flowers imported from other countries or flowers grown using chemicals and pesticides.

In addition to the flower farm, I have a few clients that I help maintain their flower gardens and landscaping. I also grow culinary and medicinal herbs, so for the chefs & herbalists out there looking for a source using chemical-free practices, please get in touch! Let’s collaborate!

In 2015, I was so lucky to meet my wonderful partner, Conor. He supports all my crazy flower and gardening dreams. Over the years I have been slowly adding to his already established perennial beds, recovering forgotten gardens, and adding new gardens. Conor has a historic restoration business, CBM Restoration. He specializes in restoring early American houses and is also a musician. He plays and restores B3 Hammond organs.

We now have a great blend of long-established perennials, shrubs, seasonal annuals, a big vegetable garden, and a native plant forest garden. We have lots of native plants for the pollinators and I am working towards removing invasive species on the land.

I have many exciting plans on the horizon, so stay tuned to our Facebook & Instagram pages for the latest updates and lots of flowery photos! Click the SHOP link to see what is currently being offered!

Thanks for visiting and supporting local flowers! - Jessica

A lovely sunset at the end of a day
Someone helping a stranger along the way
That's heaven to me”
